Meet The Team

MEET OUR TEAM

With the staff at Elite Equine, you can expect quality veterinary care for your horses. We appreciate the role we get to play in your horse's veterinary needs and preventive care.

Zach Bruggen, DVM

Originally from Kansas, Dr. Zach attended Kansas State University, where he completed both his undergraduate studies and earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Following graduation, Dr. Zach moved to Tennessee to complete a year-long internship at Tennessee Equine Hospital, where he gained valuable hands-on experience in equine medicine, surgery, and emergency care. Upon completing his internship, he joined the practice as an associate veterinarian and helped establish a satellite location in Memphis, Tennessee. After spending two and a half years practicing in Memphis, Dr. Zach made the move to Central Arkansas to pursue his dream of owning his own veterinary practice. In June 2016, he founded Elite Equine, with a commitment to providing high-quality, personalized veterinary care to horses throughout Central Arkansas and the surrounding areas. When he's not busy caring for his patients, Dr. Zach enjoys spending time at home with his animals, duck hunting, working out, and traveling. Whether at the clinic or out on the farm, his passion for animals and dedication to equine health remain at the heart of everything he does.

Madison Smith

I bring 14 years of experience as a Veterinary Assistant to our team, including 9 years working side-by-side with Dr. Zach. I’m passionate about giving every patient the best care possible and making sure our clients feel right at home. Outside the clinic, I’m happily married, proud dog mom, and avid outdoorsman. If I’m not at work, there’s a high chance you will catch me at a barrel race!

Olivia Kelly

Animals have always been a huge part of my life. I spent 9 years as a small animal veterinary assistant and have a Bachelor of Science in Biology. I’m happily married and a proud mom to one son, as well as 4 dogs, 4 cats, and a lively bunch of chickens, ducks, and geese. I feel incredibly blessed to spend my life surrounded by the people and animals I love!

Rachel Gaffney

Rachel joined the Elite Equine team as a veterinary assistant in April 2026. She comes with 6 years of experience in small animal medicine and a B.S. in Animal Science, and she is excited to help clients help their horses feel their best! In her spare time, she enjoys riding her horses, traveling, and birdwatching from her back porch with her cat & 2 dogs.
